Beef still in high demand amongst British consumers

Recent figures from Quality Meat Scotland show that Britain’s demand for beef remains solid.

It has been said that consumers are buying more beef, especially grass fed beef, because of the health benefits and the nutrients they can get from the meat. A two per cent increase over the last three months shows that demand is not slowing down, even though some prices are higher.

Quality Meat Scotland explained that it is likely that the production of beef during February increased, and despite the higher prices, the industry remains firm. This highlights the fact that the beef market is still going strong, and consumers’ demand for it is not at all waning.

Several factors have been associated with the beef industry’s continued success, including the weakening of the sterling to euro rate. This might have significantly aided Britain’s exporters, increasing demand that way. Another reason may be the fact that European markets are looking carefully at their supplies since they saw a fall in beef production.

Although markets and rates fluctuate, consumers continue to demand beef because of its beneficial properties which aid health and also make a great meal. Those who are concerned about the quality of their meat often source it from online butchers, where grass fed beef can be purchased reliably.

For some, buying certain types of meat online is easier and more trustworthy than sourcing from supermarkets. Grass fed meat is still in demand as much as other types, if not more so in the past few years, because it considered the ‘real’ beef by many experts.
